Sacraments: Confirmation

We are united more closely to Christ by the gift of the Holy Spirit and our relationship with the Father as adopted sons is strengthened. As our connection with the Church is increased, so is our responsibility to take part in her mission deepened.

Preparation for confirmation is quite brief but also quite intensive. Candidates gather for 6 weekly meetings leading up to the Confirmation itself.  Candidates are asked to commit to the process at a Sunday Mass and then think about being confirmed.
Sessions look at what it means to be a Confirmed Roman Catholic today.  The sessions will use the scriptures of the Sundays, the prayers that will be used at the Confirmation itself and the Renewal of Baptismal Promises. Towards the end of the process candidates will be invited to become a Confirmed Catholic.

Candidates will also be expected to perform a ministry at one of our Sunday Masses during this time of preparation. It has been the tradition that candidates carry the Cross on Good Friday at the 3.00 pm Service. Also, two candidates present the Oil of Chrism at the Mass of the Lord's Supper at 8.00 pm on Holy Thursday.
