Lenten Opportunities for 2018

Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the season we call Lent. The whole of Lent is
summed up in the words of Ash Wednesday's liturgy. "Turn away from sin and believe in the Gospel"
Prayer at St. Paul's Church
Mass Come to Mass during the week. as detailed in the weekly bulletin. Every Friday morning during Lent, Mass will be at 7.00 am (no 11.00 am Mass).
Stations of the Cross

Each Tuesday after 9.30 am Mass and Saturday after 9.30 am Morning Prayer.

Rosary On Wednesdays after the 9.30 am Mass (except first Wednesday of the month when the Mass is at St. Stephen's Church, Horsted Keynes). You might also like to visit if the rosary is something you don't get on with!    
Reconciliation Celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation at our Reconciliation Service on Monday 26 March at 7.00 pm or each Saturday morning from 10.30 am.  
Prayer and Adoration Take some time to pray in front of the Blessed Sacrament especially on Thursdays after Mass until 12 noon and Saturday mornings from 10.30 - 11.30 when the Blessed Sacrament is exposed for adoration.

Lenten Booklet

The lenten booklet 'Your Journey to Easter' gives daily reflections for each day of Lent and many other relevant articles. Offered at a special price of £1.50. Available at the back of the church. First come, first served.

Childrens Lent Activity Sheet Activities for each day of Lent with puzzles and a recipe for Mother's Day! One per family please. Available at the back of the church.  
How to Read the Bible Get into reading the bible - a short 5 week course during Lent - 7.45 pm till 9.15 pm in St Augustine's room.
Prayer and Praise Each Friday evening at 7.30 pm in St. Augustine's Room.
Fasting and almsgiving

Keep the CAFOD Lent Fast Day on Friday 23 February and donate to CAFOD.

Lenten Alms Possibly keep each Friday in Lent as a day of fasting and give the money to Lenten Alms in support of the enclosed religious sisters of the diocese. We will have a retiring collection for this towards the end of Lent.  
Gift for the poor Bring a gift for the poor to Mass on Holy Thursday evening (29 Mar) at 8.00 pm - tinned or dried foods, tea, coffee, sugar etc. or basic toiletries: bar of soap, toothpaste, shampoo, toothbrush, comb, hairbrush etc. Please do not bring anything that will go off quickly, fresh items are not suitable. These gifts will go to organisations that work with the homeless.
